Radlett is a village in Hertfordshire, England, on the Old Watling Road, one of the oldest roads in England. This area has been inhabited since the beginning of the Stone Age and was covered with dense forests until the Middle Ages. The Catholaonians settled in Hertfordshire around St Albans and Whithamstead around 80 BC. The name Radlet probably derives from the place where the old Aldenham to Shenley road intersects Watling Street, and seems to be derived from the Old English rad-gelaete, meaning to cross. During the Roman occupation of Verolamium, the Radlit area of Broccoli Hill was the site of many large-scale electrical projects, not only in the city of Rome, but in other parts of the state. In the Netherwild Farm area, you'll find evidence of Roman quarries and Roman villas dating back to the 2nd to 4th centuries AD. In late Roman times, the Saxons expanded the area in the 6th century and built a Saxon church said to have been built over Aldenham Church in the Cloud Age. From the beginning, the land east of Watling Street was managed separately from the land to the west. 1086 Scholars have confirmed that St Albans occupied part of Titburst (land east of Watling Street), although most of the land belonged to Westminster Abbey. Two principal tenants are mentioned, Geoffrey de Mandeville and Geoffrey de Beck, who leased part of the land to farmers. Radlett seems to have had two farms. Darnells (first mentioned in 1358) and Watling Street in the west. Giles Hill. Aldenham Aldenham Lodge, Newbury Manor, Organ Hall, Newlands (first recorded 1291) and residence. There are records of at least two medieval moated farms in the parish, Pennes Place and Kendals, but physical evidence is scant. The first record of Radlet dates back to 1453, and until the mid-19th century it was often spelled with the letter T. With the Dissolution of the Monasteries in 1536, the dispute between St Albans Abbey and Westminster Abbey over the ownership of the church could no longer be resolved. It was settled and the land was sold to the Crown for revenue. The current Radlett Garage was built around this time and includes a modern 1970s office and beautiful wheelhouse. .
