An international airport called London Luton Airport is situated in Luton, Bedfordshire, England. 1.7 miles (2.7 km) east of the town center, it is situated 35 miles (56 km) north of Central London. The Luton Borough Council owns the entire company that manages the airport, London Luton Airport Operations Ltd. An airfield was established there on July 16, 1938. Flight instructions for general aviation and commercial activities at Luton were restored.
