History of Stansted Airport:
Stansted Airport is also named as London Stansted Airport. This airport is located in Essex, England. This huge airport was built during the 2nd World War and has its roots in civil aviation and air transportation in The United Kingdom. In the 1950’s this civil aviation base was given the status of an international airport to ease the air traffic at Gatwick and Heathrow Airport. Stansted Airport was officially opened for civilian international air transport in 1966. In the late 1960s, this international airport was not serving large flights. However, there was significant development in this Airport in the 1980s and 1990s. Large runways were opened to accommodate larger aircraft. This huge development was a project of the government to start a competition among the international airports of London.
